Antonio Stradivari (violin) Artôt, Alard – 1728

This instrument still bears an original label dated 1728, and it is named after two of its past owners, the Belgian violinist Joseph- Alexandre Montagney (1815–1845), who changed his surname to Artôt and whose brilliant career was brusquely terminated by an early death, and the renowned French violinist and professor Jean-Delphin Alard (1815–1888), who taught at the Paris Conservatoire from 1842 until 1875.
