Antonio Stradivari (violin) Bertier, Kubelik – 1687

This violin still bears an original label that reads ‘Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis Faciebat Anno 1687’, and is named after two of its past owners, the French Comte de Bertier, and the Czech violinist and composer Jan Kubelik (1880–1940). Henri Pigaillem stated that it was also known by the name Block, possibly referring to Mrs. Carl Block—sometimes spelled Bloch—a violinist of Preoria City, Illinois.
